On Friday the 19th of February, Dominanz’s band members drove to a place called Dale, deep in a valley of Fjord, Norway . Mission: To record Dominanz' first music video with the track "The end of all there is". This little town of Dale is built around a huge factory( 50.000 m2 ) that was established in 1879. It is no longer operational in full scale, which left our production team with lots of spaces to choose from. The more we got into rigging sets and scenes; the more we realized how lucky we were. This location was just perfect for our video.

We chose the most industrial looking hall for the band performance and the scariest room for the nasty storyline with screaming, scared little girls. More or less all of the props we used in this we found in the factory itself. We felt like treasure hunters, walking around in endless halls and rooms. We found some scary old medical equipment that fit perfect in our torture chamber scenes. The authenticity and diversity of this equipment made most of us wonder what really had happened in that place.

Curious? You will have to wait for the result for 3 more weeks. Then we will publish the video online as soon as the guys in the production company, Anders Jørgensen at Feber Film, are ready with the editing and post production.

When we began the planning and preliminary work for the video, we decided to do it as professionally as possible. Fortunately we have friends and acquaintances who work in the film industry in Bergen , something that made it possible for us to undertake this project. We decided also to use professional actors with experience from the famous Norwegian films such as; Varg Veum, Skjult (Hidden) and Vegas.
Currently, we are finished with the final cut, now it’s just the grading, colour correction and some effects left before all is done. Hopefully Mats Andersen at Alligator Film will get it done this or next week. We have chosen him because of his talent and long experience, and because we simply love the work he did on Skjult(Hidden).

Our First Music Video: As I Shine

Welcome to Dominanz on Blogger

Welcome to Dominanz on our new Blogger site!

For those of you who have not found this blog via one of our other sites, or don't know who Dominanz is, here's a brief introdotuction and bio:

The orchestra Dominanz is a successor of the project called Cult of Deception that was established in 2005 by Roy Nordaas. After a couple of years with composing, and the recordings of “Purge my Pain” and “Infinity”, he found it natural to take his music to a higher level. In the fall of 2008 he joined forces with Frode Gaustad former drummer in the black metal band Thy Grief, and Jørn Tunsberg guitarplayer in the black metal band Hades Almighty, and formerly in the bands Immortal, Old Funeral and Amputation. To achieve the correct, dynamic sound and soundscape two important players were missing, the bass player and a synth player. These roles where taken by Rolv Erik Berge guitarplayer in Syrach, and Bjørn Nese later in the beginning of 2009. Unfortunately Rolv Erik Berge left the band the same year, as he realized he didn't have the time to play two serious bands. We have no plans to replace him at the moment, and Roy has taken his role as bass player.

After intense exercise the first half of 2009, we were ready for our first live performances during the summer and autumn 2009. In September this year Dominanz had their first gig abroad in Olsztyn (PL).

Dominanz plays dark, gloomy Industrial metal, but at the same time trying to do it in an engaging way. There are also elements from genres such as Death and Black metal. The musical expression is a mix between the aforementioned genres, but there are also influences from the 80- Century heavy metal and 1990- and 2000 century electro.

The lyric deals with everything from depictions of erotic, male chauvinism further to social critical lyrics. The main theme is on the bleak and destructive. Inspirations for the texts are taken from books, movies, personal experience, as well as from-ancient and modern history, as well as newspapers, documentaries and news programs. In this context it must be understood that Dominanz in no way is a political band, but we are all very socially committed.

Dominanz recorded during the autumn 2009 (September/October) a ten tracks CD called “As I shine”. And in this case, we want to get in touch with a label that will dedicate themselves to release it sometime even in the first half of 2010.
